Today the ache beats
louder, ever daring
me to drown it out
the colors in my periphery
fading into muted shades
and this is how I’m
perpetually betrayed
by my synapses
in their commitment
to misfiring, I’m reminded
of all the times I’ve said
that I don’t suit my
Sagittarius sign, but here
